Three people suffered an injury when a semi-truck hauling a trailer jackknifed on Route 101, colliding with three other vehicles, according to a recent article in the Nashua Telegraph. Investigators say that the accident occurred when the truck’s driver, a 30-year-old New Hampshire resident, came up behind a slow-moving line of traffic going east on Route 101 and was unable to stop his truck in time to avoid crashing into the vehicles ahead of him. Heavy rain may have contributed to the New Hampshire tractor-trailer accident by making it more difficult for the truck to stop in time.
The driver of the truck and of one of the cars was not injured. However, a woman and her teenage son in a second car, as well as a male driver in the third car involved in the crash, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries to their heads, necks, and faces. Their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, according to police. Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
New Hampshire State Troopers are still investigating the accident. They believe its main cause was the truck driver traveling too fast in heavy rain and traffic. So far, they do not believe alcohol or drugs played any role in the crash.
